The center for Cosmology, Particle Physics and Phenomenology (CP3,

http://cp3.phys.ucl.ac.be/) of the

Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) invites applications for one position

aimed to obtain a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics. Research will be conducted in the context of the CMS

experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

The research activity of the UCL CP3 experimental group currently focuses on CMS physics data analysis,

software development for physics object reconstruction, and upgrade of the CMS detector. Physics data analysis is

carried out within the following CMS groups: beyond-two-generations, electroweak, exotica, forward, Higgs, top

quark. UCL hosts one of the Tier-2 centers of the LHC computing GRID and physics studies are pursued in close

collaboration with theoreticians within the CP3 center. The UCL CP3 group had significantly contributed to the

design and construction of the CMS silicon strip tracker detector and was deeply involved in its commissioning

since the early stages. The group is also involved in the NA62 experiment at CERN.

The position is open to candidates of any nationality. Although the position will remain open until suitable

candidates are found, interested persons are encouraged to apply before

15 August 2014, when the first

application screening will take place. Applications, including curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and at least

two letters of recommendation should be submitted online at
